DESCRIPTION:What? There’s even more kid-friendly programming to be had at the Denver Art Museum? Yes! Create Playdates take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 10a to 1p and offer even more art making fun for kids 3-5 and their grownups. Each month features a different theme\, art project\, stories and gallery games. These popular drop-in events don’t require any reservations and are included with admission (don’t forget that kids are always free!). \nPro Tip: If you’re used to the kids area of the DAM being a bit more mellow\, you’ll want to avoid visiting the DAM on Create Playdate days as they truly take over Duncan Pavilion (where the big foam blocks and costumes are) and draw a lot of infant\, toddler and preschool visitors.

DESCRIPTION:Go behind the scenes of the newest (opens 5/17) exhibit at the Denver Art Museum with a lecture by the artist\, Virgil Ortiz. Ortiz is an internationally renowned ceramicist\, fashion designer\, and graphic artist from Cochiti Pueblo\, New Mexico. \nEvent Description: \nThis is no ordinary exhibition or lecture! Do not expect to hear about mundane aspects of pottery or see images of ceramics against white walls. Ortiz will share his story told through 31 of his clay figures that blend Pueblo history with science fiction set against larger-than-life graphic murals. His work reflects on the 1680 Pueblo Revolt then pushes the story into the future\, imagining the struggle repeating again in the year 2180. \nThis is the first exhibition to visually tell the entire story of his Revolt series from start to finish. We welcome you to come hear the story directly from the artist himself. Revolt 1680/2180: Virgil Ortiz opens May 17 and is located on level 4 of the Hamilton Building. \nDoors open at 5:30 pm\, lecture at 6 pm (new time) \nTickets are $8 students and volunteers\, $12 DAMC and Douglas Society members and artists\, $15 DAM members\, $18 nonmembers.
