SUMMARY:Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
DESCRIPTION:The origins of Dragon Boat Racing date back more than 2\,000 years to ancient China\, but the sport is growing in popularity worldwide. The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival began in 2001 with 16 teams\, and this year 46 teams will compete over the course of the weekend-long festival. Highlights of the festival include the opening ceremony during which the spirit of the dragon is awoken through a traditional ceremony by Buddhist monks; the many great Asian food\, drink and dessert vendors; cultural performances including martial arts\, anime\, music\, drumming and dance; and of course\, the excitement of the long dragon-headed boats racing across Sloan’s Lake!
