DESCRIPTION:Taste of Iceland returns to Denver September 23-26 to celebrate various aspects of Icelandic culture. Visitors will have the chance to experience Icelandic food at Coohills\, listen to an Icelandic-American music mashup\, view a collection of Icelandic films and more during this four-day festival. \nIcelandic Menu at Coohills | Wednesday\, Sept. 23-Saturday\, Sept. 26\nIcelandic chef Ylfa Helgadóttir\, chef de cuisine and owner of Kopar\, will fly to Denver to collaborate with American chefs in the Mile High City to present a unique and authentic Icelandic meal. Four-course meal: $75; call Coohills (1400 Wewatta St.) for reservations. \nFree Reyka Vodka Cocktail Classes | Thursday\, Sept. 24-Saturday\, Sept. 26\, 3:30-5 p.m.\nCoohills bar manager and mixologist Joshua Tallent will lead a series of hands-on craft cocktail classes at Coohills Restaurant & Bar. Attendees will receive a demonstration on how to craft a variety of cocktails using Reyka Vodka and Icelandic ingredients as well as a quick look at the history of cocktails\, what makes a great drink and more. Classes are free and attendance is limited to 24 per class. 21+ to participate. Call Coohills to sign up for the class (303-623-5700 ). \nFree Concert: Reykjavik Calling | Saturday\, Sept. 26\, 8p\nReykjavik Calling\, the electric Icelandic-American collaboration concert\, hits Denver on September 26. This year’s concert\, presented by KGNU\, will take place at Hi-Dive and feature Icelandic artists My bubba and Mr. Silla paired with local musicians. Denver’s Martina and James of Land Lines will collaborate with Iceland’s Mr. Silla\, and Natalie Tate and Anna Morsett will combine to perform with the Icelandic band My bubba. The concert is on a first-come\, first-served basis. Must be 21+ or 18+ accompanied by someone 21+. \nFree Icelandic Film Festival at the Mayan Theatre | Thursday\, Sept. 24\, 7p\nPresented by the Reykjavik Shorts & Docs Festival\, the festival is open to the public on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nFree Art: Ólöf Björg Paints Modern Mystic Rune Portraits | Wednesday\, Sept. 23-Saturday\, Sept. 26\, 3-7 p.m.\nIcelandic artist Ólöf Björg will be stationed outside Coohills (1400 Wewatta) painting Icelandic-themed portraits of passersby that people can take home with them free of charge. \nFree Lecture: The Write Stuff: Why Iceland Inspires Us to Put Pen to Paper | Wednesday\, Sept. 23\, 7p\nMyths\, magic and sagas – Iceland’s robust storytelling culture has made it one of the most coveted destinations for creative minds.
