SUMMARY:Inextinguishable
DESCRIPTION:More than just music\, the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra combines high quality music concerts with fun activities before and after the performance to create a one-of-a-kind musical evening experience. For Inextinguishable\, sample chilis cooked by firemen and then enjoy a cello concert! \nTickets are $10 – $20\, Buy Tickets \nThe Music: \nThe “adventurous cellist” (New York Times) Jay Campbell performs Edward Elgar’s cello concerto\, written in the ashes of the first World War. The great cellist Jacqueline DuPre’s memory endures due to her legendary recording of this concerto. The evening also features Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s Fourth Symphony “The Inextinguishable” which represents the will to live\, and the Colorado premiere of Dan Locklair’s Phoenix for Orchestra. \n\nThe Activities:  \nDenver Fire Department Chili\, 6pm – Our local firefighters will join us preconcert for a chili cook-off! Enjoy and vote on the best chili from various departments around the city. Don’t miss the antique fire truck parked outside too! Chili comes both mild and inextinguishably hot. \nPre-Concert Chat\, 6:30pm – Join Denver Phil for informal pre-concert chat sessions about the music you’ll be hearing hosted by DPO associate conductor S. Mordecai Fuhrman. What should you listen for? What is the music’s historic and cultural context? We’ll give you insights into the music and music-makers you’ll be listening to. Pre-concert chats are free to all ticket holders starting at 6:30pm on all concert nights. \nReception\, immediately following concert – Say hello! Come downstairs after the concert for refreshments\, meet the soloists\, buy a t-shirt — and have fun! \nMore info: http://denverphilharmonic.org/upcoming-concert-november-20-2015/
