DESCRIPTION:This event is free and open to the public \nAbout the Artist (from CVA): Joanne Pillsbury is the Andrall E. Pearson Curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, New York. A specialist in the art and archaeology of the ancient Americas\, she holds a Ph.D. in art history and archaeology from Columbia University. Previously associate director of the Getty Research Institute\, and prior to that\, director of Pre-Columbian Studies at Dumbarton Oaks\, she has also taught at the University of Maryland and the University of East Anglia. She was the editor or co-editor of numerous volumes\, including the three-volume Guide to Documentary Sources for Andean Studies\, 1530-1900 (2008); Moche Art and Archaeology in Ancient Peru (2001); and Ancient Maya Art at Dumbarton Oaks (2012)\, recipient of the College Art Association’s Alfred H. Barr\, Jr.\, Award. Her 2012 volume\, Past Presented: Archaeological Illustration and the Ancient Americas\, was honoured with the Association for Latin American Art Book Award. Her recent articles have addressed markets and redistribution in the pre-Hispanic Andes\, the history of archaeology and collecting\, and architectural sculpture at Chan Chan\, Peru. \nMore info: http://www.msudenver.edu/cva/events/
