If citizens are to support their democracy\, they need to see elected and appointed government officials are delivering programs effectively and improving the public’s quality of life. \nOur panel will discuss the initiatives currently aiming to accomplish these goals: what has been accomplished so far\, next steps\, barriers\, opportunities for participation and their role in “raising the brand of government.” These programs include the Peak Academy\, GELA and TLI. \nRun by the City of Denver\, the Peak Academy empowers employees to streamline their work processes and save money. The Government Entrepreneurial Leadership Accelerator (GELA) program is an effort to bring a more entrepreneurial perspective to city government and to save money. At the state level\, the Lieutenant Governor’s office has been developing goals and metrics to demonstrate improved performance.
