SUMMARY:The Eco-Disaster Fashion Show
DESCRIPTION:Warm Cookies of the Revolution is the world’s first “civic health club.” What does that mean? Well\, it means that through playful and creative events\, the folks at Warm Cookies want to help people engage with civic issues that impact our lives\, but might initially seem hard to unravel or at the very least not that fun (like taxes\, building codes\, laws\, political processes\, etc.). Improve your civic health and have a great time too! \nEvent Description from Warm Cookies of the Revolution: Imagine what our world will look like if we do nothing to combat global climate change. The essential question\, of course\, is: Whatever shall we wear?! Denver’s top designers are putting on a runway show that will challenge us to imagine\, critique\, and plan for a new way of life that may not be far away. This is cutting-edge fashion for our ecological future! More info.

SUMMARY:Chamberlin Observatory Open House

SUMMARY:Tattered Cover Film Series: Lacombe\, Lucien\, '74
DESCRIPTION:With the Tattered Cover Film Series\, you can enjoy a different classic movie each month at the Sie FilmCenter hosted by Howie Movshovitz. Tickets are only $1! Seating is limited and is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Film Series Lineup. \nAbout the Film: After the Normandy invasion\, a 17-year-old French country kid\, becomes a Nazi collaborator. He’s unformed; he has no moral framework in his life. In another time\, Lucien Lacombe—he identifies himself in the bureaucratic form of his name—would lead an unnoticed\, probably undistinguished life. But in these times\, he’s ripe for Nazi recruitment\, and Louis Malle’s film is an early example of the French looking at the question of French collaboration with the Nazis. (138 minutes). SUMMARY:Classic Film Series: Touch of Evil '58
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy free classic films with the fun-loving folks of the Fresh City Life office at the Denver Public Library Central branch. Films are shown in the B2 Conference Room at Central. \nAbout “Touch of Evil”: Starring Charlton Heston\, Orson Welles\, Janet Leigh\, and Marlene Dietrich. Directed by Orson Welles. “‘Come on\, read my future for me. You haven’t got any. What do you mean? Your future is all used up.’ So speaks a fortune-telling madam\, played by Marlene Dietrich\, to the drunken sheriff of a border town\, played by Orson Welles\, in Touch of Evil. Her words have a sad resonance\, because Welles was never again to direct in Hollywood after making this dark\, atmospheric story of crime and corruption.” rogerebert.com 95 minutes.
