SUMMARY:Inside the Orchestra: Tiny Tots
DESCRIPTION:Tiny Tots gets children truly “inside the orchestra” by seating the audience on the floor and surrounding them with our 30+ piece professional orchestra. The conductor faces the audience and talks directly to the kids throughout the performance\, asking questions and teaching them about the music as it is playing around them. \nDesigned for children six and under\, Tiny Tots is a 45-minute program that gives young ones the chance to interact with the conductor and the musicians and learn about the instruments in the process. Children are encouraged to respond to different elements of the music\, from thinking about how music makes them feel to getting on their feet and moving. They are treated to up-close-and-personal demos by various instruments\, introduced to musical concepts\, emotional understanding of the arts\, and artistic expression. The music selection\, design\, and scripting of Tiny Tots is geared to connect very young children with music – physically\, emotionally\, and mentally. Children are also encouraged to take a closer look at the instruments and ask questions of the musicians after the concert has concluded. Every Tiny Tots event includes guest performers from some of our cultural partner organizations. \nTiny Tots was named in Denver Westword’s “Best of Denver” 2017. The experience is one-of-a-kind! \n[Tiny Tots tickets are a suggested $9.95 for anyone over the age of 12 months. Discounts and financial consideration are available to those with financial hardship. If you need assistance\, please contact info@insidetheorchestra.org\, or by phone at 303-355-7855.] \nMore info: https://insidetheorchestra.org/tiny-tots-events/

SUMMARY:FIELD TRIP: Dikeou Collection
DESCRIPTION:Discover a hidden Denver gem! The Dikeou Collection is a Contemporary Art Collection in Downtown Denver that was established in 1998 by siblings\, Devon Dikeou and Pany Dikeou\, and features works by approximately 30 international artists. \nThis place is an experience. After entering the building at 1615 California\, one takes an old elevator up to the fifth floor and when the doors open it feels like you’re a world away from the busy energy of modern life that’s playing out on the 16th Street Mall below. Is this the 1940s? The 1930s? The retro style of the space is disarming and provides a fascinating counterbalance to the very fresh contemporary art\, which is displayed in a series of converted offices. \nOur exclusive Go Play Denver Field Trip to Dikeou will feature a guided tour with Hayley Richardson\, Director of the Dikeou Collection. \nThis Outing Is Best for: Teens and Adults \n[$9]

SUMMARY:Night Of The Living Dead - 4K Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Shot outside of Pittsburgh at a fraction of the cost of a Hollywood feature by a band of filmmakers determined to make their mark\, George A. Romero’s Night Of The Living Dead is one of the great stories of independent cinema: a midnight hit turned box-office smash that became one of the most influential films of all time. A deceptively simple tale of a group of strangers trapped in a farmhouse who find themselves fending off a horde of flesh-eating ghouls newly arisen from their graves\, Romero’s claustrophobic vision of a late-sixties America (literally) tearing itself apart rewrote the rules of the horror genre\, combined gruesome gore with acute social commentary\, and quietly broke ground by casting a black actor (Duane Jones) in the lead role. After decades of poor-quality prints and video transfers\, Night Of The Living Dead can finally be seen for the immaculately crafted film that it is thanks to a new 4K restoration\, scanned from the original camera negative and supervised by Romero himself. Stark\, haunting\, and more relevant than ever\, Night Of The Living Dead is back. \n[$7 – $11] \nMore info: https://secure.denverfilm.org/tickets/film.aspx?id=29605

SUMMARY:The Wild Party
DESCRIPTION:Why go to just any costume party when you can go to a 1920s-themed shindig that’s also a 360 degree musical experience? \nYou’re invited to leave your inhibitions (and Prohibitions) behind as you join a decadent party in the Roaring Twenties\, brought to you by the producers of Sweet & Lucky. Indulge your inner flapper as you mingle with an unruly mix of vaudevillians\, playboys\, divas\, and ingénues in a Manhattan apartment lost in time. Debauchery turns disastrous as wild guests become unhinged and their solo songs reveal the drama bubbling underneath the surface. Whether you’re a wallflower or a jitterbug\, you’ll think this jazz- and gin-soaked immersive musical is the bee’s knees. \nPro Tip: For optimum fun levels\, bring a friend\, get dolled up and buy a drink at the bar at the beginning of the show so you can feel even more a part of the party. \n21+ ONLY. ID required at check in. Performance takes place in the Hangar at Stanley Marketplace \n[$45] \nTickets: https://www.wildpartydenver.com/get-tickets/

SUMMARY:Migration and Adaptation in Our Changing World
DESCRIPTION:This program is part of an annual series presented in partnership with Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. \nWhen animal populations are impacted by human-caused changes\, they are forced to move to new places\, modify how they behave\, or face extinction. Ellen D. Ketterson\, professor of biology at Indiana University Bloomington\, addresses our need as invested citizens to understand animal migration and seasonality in relation to the loss of biodiversity. Ketterson will examine the very real implications of our changing world through the lens of a model bird species\, the dark-eyed junco\, commonly known as the snowbird. By focusing on the details and consequences of environmental change and how organisms respond\, humans will be equipped to develop ways to predict future responses to ongoing environmental change and champion the biodiversity that makes our planet so amazing. \nThe final lecture in the series is The Genius of Birds on November 2. \n[$12 Museum or Bird Conservancy of the Rockies member\, $15 nonmember] \nMore info: http://www.dmns.org/learn/adults/after-hours/migration-and-adaptation-in-our-changing-world/

SUMMARY:Untitled Final Fridays: Homewrecker
DESCRIPTION:Final Friday of the Month | January–October | 6–10 pm \nProduced with local creatives\, Untitled Final Fridays is the museum’s monthly late night program featuring workshops\, performances\, and tours with a twist. Experience the museum in an entirely different way—every time. \nUntitled is included in regular museum admission. Members receive free admission to every Untitled event and all the special programming that happens inside. College students with valid ID receive 2-for-1 admission. \n[$8 – $10; Free for DAM Members] \nMore Info: http://denverartmuseum.org/programs/untitled-final-fridays \nEvent Details: \nIt’s the Denver Art Museum’s 2017 Untitled Final Fridays season finale and our last Untitled before the North Building begins its transformation. We’re celebrating the opening of Her Paris: Women Artists in the Age of Impressionism with a focus on those who question the rules\, while exploring art in action\, and the changing landscape of our museum home. (Note: Her Paris requires a special exhibition ticket.) \nTake a tour with a queen \nFirst thing’s first. It’s the return of those grand dames of the night\, the trailblazing ladies of the “Oh So Wrong” tours. That’s right–it’s drag night again at the DAM\, and these ladies cam to bring the house down! Join Shirley Delta Blow and the fabulous Zara on guided tours of the museum as they get in touch with their wild side inside Stampede: Animals in Art and wander the grounds\, filling our galleries with glitz and glamour. As always\, these tours fill up fast\, and there’s only so much sass to go around\, so get there fast and sign up to be part of the parade. \nBring art to life \nGenerally\, we ask that you don’t touch the art\, but this night\, we’re throwing caution to the wind and breaking house rules with current Creative-in-Residence\, Detour\, aka\, Thomas Evans. Detour specializes in interactive art–painting and sculpture that come to life with touch\, allowing for a multisensory experience that combines music and visual art. \nFor Untitled: Homewrecker\, Evans has a packed house\, full of friends and performers to bring the space to life. Spoken word performances by slam poet Panama Soweto and some fresh-picked beats (no..like really fresh) from the O.G. (organic gardener) DJ Cavem start things off right\, but the rest of the action is up to you! \nWatch ballerinas & plein air artists \nHold that pose! In celebration of Her Paris and in an exciting preview for next year’s Degas: A Passion for Perfectionexhibition\, we’re filling the museum with ballerinas and plein-air artists who can capture their grace. Artwalk Longmont and Centennial State Ballet make themselves at home and invite you to follow along with their poses and paintbrushes as over 20 artists work in-the-round for all to see. Drop in all night and maybe even pick up a couple new tips (or dance moves). \nHear real-life stories \nNext up\, we’re proud to present\, in ongoing collaboration with MOTUS Theater\, the real-life stories of two inspiring women Elena Aranda and Laura Soto. Learn about the obstacles they’ve faced\, the love of family that inspires them\, and celebrate their courage to leave their homes and venture to a new country. Pull up a chair\, lend an ear and stay\, and share your thoughts and own stories of powerful women. \nBuild a home or tear it down \nOur very own North Building is about to undergo some exciting changes as we spruce up and expand into the future. Dig into the history and years ahead by visiting Then\, Now\, Next: Evolution of an Architectural Icon and once you’re fully immersed in the stories of our story\, try out your own architectural prowess by building your home (or tearing the whole thing down!) in a variety of building games in the Hamilton Building atrium. \nEnjoy CAR-aoke\, theater performances & more \nAs always\, grab a drink\, listen to the tunes of DJ Jonny\, get croonin’ in the Toyota and bust a gut in the season finale of Buntport Theater’s Joan & Charlie Discuss Tonight’s Theme. \nUntitled Final Friday is included with general admission or with a ticket to Her Paris.
