Celebrate Cheyenne and Arapaho Culture at History Colorado

November 27, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Members of the Allrunner and Birdshead family, Northern Cheyenne/Arapaho, will celebrate Cheyenne and Arapaho culture at the History Colorado Center at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 27. They will share Northern and Southern Cheyenne dances and songs.

The performance at History Colorado will follow the conclusion of the Sand Creek Massacre Spiritual Healing Run. The run takes place around the anniversary of the Sand Creek Massacre, an unprovoked attack on a peaceful village of Cheyenne and Arapaho people by U.S. volunteer soldiers which took place on November 29, 1864. The Spiritual Healing Run is an annual commemoration to honor the victims and survivors of the massacre, and for the healing of ancestral homelands.
