Digital Earth: Island Getaway

February 4, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Leave the winter blues behind and virtually travel with geologist Bob Raynolds and space scientist Ka Chun Yu to special islands around the world.

Using immersive satellite imagery, wander the path of Thor Heyerdahl’s voyage on the Kon-Tiki, explore Charles Darwin’s concept of atolls, and sense the geopolitical importance of the Spratly Islands. Consider island genesis (some by fire, some by ice), the pleasures of archipelagos, and the issues of sustainability experienced today by dwellers of these island worlds, and Madagascar.

Tickets: $8 member, $10 nonmember
