Feminism + Co. — Married to the Military

April 16, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Don’t let the title of this April lecture series from the The Museum of Contemporary Art fool you! While yes, you will be be exploring contemporary culture through issues relating to women and gender, you’ll also find yourself entertained, intrigued and really glad you came. With film screenings, creative performances, lectures and panel discussions, these events address women’s (and men’s) complicated relationship to art, politics and sexuality, but aren’t intimidating or boring. Also, MEN DRINK FREE! Snag your ticket soon as the first week sold out right away. $10 for general, $5 for MCA members. Feminism + Co. info.

About the Married to the Military Lecture: Women now make up over fifteen percent of US Armed Forces, but the numbers don’t tell the whole story of the remarkable sea change women have seen in their relationship to the military in the last fifteen years. Helen Thorpe, author of Soldier Girls, will jumpstart a dynamic discussion with Angie Ricketts, author of No Man’s War, and Warrant Officer Jaclyn Scott about women’s roles as active duty soldiers, reservists, and wives.
