April: Coffee Talk with a Curator at Leon Gallery
Arrive anytime between 2:30p and 3p to mix and mingle in the gallery space over free tasty coffee and nibbles. A guided tour of the gallery will begin at 3p led by Leon co-owners and curators Eric Nord and Camille Shortridge. Eric and Camille will talk about how galleries work, share their tips for feeling comfortable in any gallery space you might encounter and even how to start your own art collection on a budget. Bring your friends, and bring questions!
About Eric Nord:
Eric Gustaf Nord is a curator, composer, and visual artist, who received a BA from The University of Denver, majoring in Art History, with a double minor in Studio Art and Business. He lived in New York City throughout the 80s and the 90s, working for Sperone Westwater Gallery, The New York Shakespeare Festival’s Public Theater, and The Brooklyn Academy of Music. In 1994, he served as the Executive Director for the E. E. Cummings Centennial Celebration, producing a variety of events throughout NYC, including a poetry reading and manuscript exhibition at the New York Public Library’s 42nd Street Branch. In Spring of 2014 he joined Leon as co-owner and curator.
About Camille Shortridge:
Camille is a French-American Denver native; her mother is French and her father is American. She graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in International Business and a passion for art. That is where she met Eric Nord, and afterwards began her participation with Leon. She have been with the gallery for a little more then a year, starting out as an intern and working her way up to co-owner alongside both of the Erics. Before Leon, she worked with the curatorial team at the Clyfford Still Museum, and with Ivar Zeile from Plus Gallery. She loves to travel, and also loves to paint and draw herself.
