To Brooklyn and Back: A Mohawk Journey
March 14
6:30 p.m.

Director Reaghan Tarbell (Mohawk). For over 50 years, the Kahnawake Mohawks of Quebec, Canada occupied a 10 square block hub in the North Gowanus section of Brooklyn, which became known as Little Caughnawaga. The director provides a new perspective on the Mohawk high steel workers who helped build the bridges and skyscrapers of New York City. This is the story of the women behind the men, who created the community of “Little Caughnawaga,” a home away from home in the heart of Brooklyn. (Mushkeg Media, Inc, 2008, 57 min.) www.mushkeg.ca.

An audience discussion will follow the film screening.
