About the Film: Two young white kids are abandoned in the vast Australian Outback. Before they can die out there, they meet an adolescent Aborigine boy (David Gulpilil in his first film) on his “walkabout,” a rite of passage. Director Nicolas Roeg was a cinematographer, and the film becomes a transcendent visual experience of time, space, civilization and wilderness. (100 minutes)
