Event Details:

It’s the Denver Art Museum’s 2017 Untitled Final Fridays season finale and our last Untitled before the North Building begins its transformation. We’re celebrating the opening of Her Paris: Women Artists in the Age of Impressionism with a focus on those who question the rules, while exploring art in action, and the changing landscape of our museum home. (Note: Her Paris requires a special exhibition ticket.)

Take a tour with a queen

First thing’s first. It’s the return of those grand dames of the night, the trailblazing ladies of the “Oh So Wrong” tours. That’s right–it’s drag night again at the DAM, and these ladies cam to bring the house down! Join Shirley Delta Blow and the fabulous Zara on guided tours of the museum as they get in touch with their wild side inside Stampede: Animals in Art and wander the grounds, filling our galleries with glitz and glamour. As always, these tours fill up fast, and there’s only so much sass to go around, so get there fast and sign up to be part of the parade.

Bring art to life

Generally, we ask that you don’t touch the art, but this night, we’re throwing caution to the wind and breaking house rules with current Creative-in-Residence, Detour, aka, Thomas Evans. Detour specializes in interactive art–painting and sculpture that come to life with touch, allowing for a multisensory experience that combines music and visual art.

For Untitled: Homewrecker, Evans has a packed house, full of friends and performers to bring the space to life. Spoken word performances by slam poet Panama Soweto and some fresh-picked beats (no..like really fresh) from the O.G. (organic gardener) DJ Cavem start things off right, but the rest of the action is up to you!

Watch ballerinas & plein air artists

Hold that pose! In celebration of Her Paris and in an exciting preview for next year’s Degas: A Passion for Perfectionexhibition, we’re filling the museum with ballerinas and plein-air artists who can capture their grace. Artwalk Longmont and Centennial State Ballet make themselves at home and invite you to follow along with their poses and paintbrushes as over 20 artists work in-the-round for all to see. Drop in all night and maybe even pick up a couple new tips (or dance moves).

Hear real-life stories

Next up, we’re proud to present, in ongoing collaboration with MOTUS Theater, the real-life stories of two inspiring women Elena Aranda and Laura Soto. Learn about the obstacles they’ve faced, the love of family that inspires them, and celebrate their courage to leave their homes and venture to a new country. Pull up a chair, lend an ear and stay, and share your thoughts and own stories of powerful women.

Build a home or tear it down

Our very own North Building is about to undergo some exciting changes as we spruce up and expand into the future. Dig into the history and years ahead by visiting Then, Now, Next: Evolution of an Architectural Icon and once you’re fully immersed in the stories of our story, try out your own architectural prowess by building your home (or tearing the whole thing down!) in a variety of building games in the Hamilton Building atrium.

Enjoy CAR-aoke, theater performances & more

As always, grab a drink, listen to the tunes of DJ Jonny, get croonin’ in the Toyota and bust a gut in the season finale of Buntport Theater’s Joan & Charlie Discuss Tonight’s Theme.

Untitled Final Friday is included with general admission or with a ticket to Her Paris.
