SUMMARY:Shady Grove Picnic Series: La Pompe Jazz
DESCRIPTION:La Pompe Jazz feat. Sweet B \nLa Pompe Jazz is a Denver-based gypsy jazz group that fuses eclectic American jazz standards with French ballads\, and Django Reinhardt “Hot Club” tunes. With a diverse blend of vocal arrangements and hard swinging instrumentals\, La Pompe Jazz has garnered a loyal following. They’ve been making their mark with performances at Denver’s most popular swing dancing venues such as The Mercury Cafe and the Arvada Tavern and a sold out concert at this winter’s’ ‘Speakeasy Soiree’. They have also managed to reach outside the jazz community with notable venues like Ophelia’s and great summer festivals like The Denver Flea\, The Big Wonderful and Taste of Fort Collins. La Pompe Jazz is pushing the envelope for what vintage jazz can be and bringing the music alive for a whole new generation. \nFeaturing David Lawrence on vocals and guitar\, Andrew Hannum on guitar\, Kevin Laxar on upright bass & Erik Fellenstein on Violin \nShady Grove Picnic Series \nJoin us this summer as we enjoy great live music in the fresh Colorado air at the Shady Grove Picnic Series at Four Mile Historic Park. Bring a picnic and your family and take part in this summer tradition that’s been happening for almost two decades. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Shows begin at 6:30. \nEm’s Ice Cream Truck will also be at each of the concerts. There is an intimacy and tightness surrounding the vocals\, with award-winning instrumental work\, a powerful rhythmic drive\, and up tempo arrangements giving way to the edgy\, outsider songwriting that has become an earmark of their style.

All three members of the group are accomplished singers and the group’s sound\, centered around the songs written by guitarist Rick Stockton\, are alive with harmony. Observing love\, politics\, the human condition\, and never missing a potential hook\, Stockton has garnered praise and accolades for his songwriting and The Scones are devoted to performing these songs with energy\, humor\, and conviction.

Brothers John Siegel and Ted Siegel spend many of their days perfecting new records at a handmade studio adjacent to residence in the hills of Mulholland Highway that overlook Los Angeles. They have become mainstays at a nearby Southern Californian institution\, The Old Place\, regularly performing for patrons at the ever-packed restaurant in the mountains. There\, they caught the ear of the late bassist Rick Rosas (Neil Young\, Joe Walsh)\, who became a mentor to the group. They spend their remaining hours rigorously touring\, headlining shows across the country while attracting the attention of sonic peers such as alt-country act The White Buffalo and Mississippi Blues legend Watermelon Slim\, playing with both on several occasions. The Deltaz have had their music placed on CMT and MTV television shows such as Jersey Shore and Party Down South.
