SUMMARY:What's with all the SPYING?
DESCRIPTION:We love how Warm Cookies of the Revolution invites everyone to dive in and explore relevent topics in ways that are not only informative\, but also fun and friendly. This event is all about SPYING! \n Protection and security? Who is doing it and why? Can we decide to turn it on or off? Should we just use Psychics and Fortune Tellers? Come discuss what spying looks like in Colorado with the Colorado ACLU\, the Denver Public Library\, State Representative Jonathan Singer\, and Commander Pat Rigdon from the Colorado Springs Police Department. We’ll also hear from folks who were spied on and saw their files years later. \nAnd since we’re looking at the idea of prediction and our private lives\, it wouldn’t be a full investigation without some Fortune Tellers and Psychics on hand!\n****Yes\, real live folks who talk to people on the other side and can predict the future.**** \nSuggested donation of $5 (come on\, you know you want there to always be cookies!) \nMore info: Stupid Questions Stupid Talents: What’s with all the Spying

SUMMARY:Five Points Jazz on Film: Keep On Keepin' On
DESCRIPTION:A free film presentation ahead of the Five Points Jazz Festival on May 16th. \nAbout the film: Shot over the course of five years by first time filmmaker Al Hicks\, “Keep On Keepin’ On” depicts a 23-year-old\, blind piano prodigy\, Justin Kauflin\, and music legend and teacher Clark Terry. Recently passed\, Terry spent his life working with and teaching the most totemic figures in jazz history\, most notably as Quincy Jones’ first teacher and mentor to Miles Davis\, as well as one of the few performers ever to have played in both Count Basie’s and Duke Ellington’s bands. “Keep On Keepin’ On” highlights Terry’s friendship with the preternaturally gifted Kauflin\, who suffers from debilitating stage fright and not long after Kauflin is invited to compete in an elite Jazz competition\, Terry’s health takes a turn for the worse. As the clock ticks\, we see two friends confront the toughest challenges of their lives. (Denver Arts & Venues)

SUMMARY:Creative Mornings: Hal Clifford and Jason Houston
DESCRIPTION:Creative Mornings makes Fridays even better with free coffee\, breakfast\, and an inspiring speaker from the Denver community. Each month’s topic is different\, but after attending at least 8 events\, we’re happy to report that they have all been engaging and thought-provoking. Here’s a brief teaser from this month’s speaker: What do you do when your industry changes beneath your feet and your career path dead-ends or vanishes? We faced that in print journalism a decade ago. Our presentation shares ways of thinking that helped us navigate major disruptions in a creative industry. Change happened to us\, and it could happen to you. Let’s try to experience it on our own terms. Learn more and snag your free ticket MONDAY 5/4 at 9a. Didn’t get a ticket? SUMMARY:The People Vs. ____________
DESCRIPTION:Warm Cookies of the Revolution is the world’s first “civic health club.” What does that mean? Well\, it means that through playful and creative events\, the folks at Warm Cookies want to help people engage with civic issues that impact our lives\, but might initially seem hard to unravel or at the very least not that fun (like taxes\, building codes\, laws\, political processes\, etc.). Improve your civic health and have a great time too! \nEvent Description from Warm Cookies of the Revolution: Have you ever wondered–why do we have Money? Or Kids? Or God? Or Police? Or the Constitution? We’ve challenged Denver’s top legal (and comic) minds to argue their case against some of the things\, like ‘em or not\, we take for granted. We (the People) are putting everything we hold dear on trial. How will they stand up against a prosecution? More info.

SUMMARY:The Eco-Disaster Fashion Show
DESCRIPTION:Warm Cookies of the Revolution is the world’s first “civic health club.” What does that mean? Well\, it means that through playful and creative events\, the folks at Warm Cookies want to help people engage with civic issues that impact our lives\, but might initially seem hard to unravel or at the very least not that fun (like taxes\, building codes\, laws\, political processes\, etc.). Improve your civic health and have a great time too! \nEvent Description from Warm Cookies of the Revolution: Imagine what our world will look like if we do nothing to combat global climate change. The essential question\, of course\, is: Whatever shall we wear?! Denver’s top designers are putting on a runway show that will challenge us to imagine\, critique\, and plan for a new way of life that may not be far away. This is cutting-edge fashion for our ecological future! More info.
