Tours start every 30 minutes and the last tour departs at 3:30. \nCurrent Exhibit on Display: “A Right to Vote” \nOctober 9th\, 2014 – January 25\, 2015\n1914 was also a busy year politically for Margaret Brown. Mrs. Brown was in the midst of a bid to become US Senator for Colorado when the events of Ludlow unfolded and when war was declared in Europe. A Right to Vote explores Margaret Brown’s active engagement with the U.S. suffragist movement centered in Newport\, Rhode Island. The “Conference of Great Women” at the home of Alva Vanderbilt Belmont on July 25\, 1914 was an important stepping stone towards the 19th Amendment\, passed in 1920\, prohibiting any United States citizen from being denied the right to vote on the basis of sex.
